Cllr Richard Foster
Position: Planning – Legal Guidance
Status: Active
About
I moved to Long Marston with my wife in 2019 having lived in Cheddington for 15 years. We have three children and six grandchildren, and are keen gardeners.
I practised as a Solicitor in central London specialising in public sector liabilities before being appointed a Deputy High Court Judge and Circuit Judge in 2004. From 2011 to 2019 I was the senior judge at Luton Crown Court and the Honorary Recorder of Luton. I now sit part-time, principally at the Central Criminal Court (the Old Bailey), and have been appointed as HM Coroner to conduct the investigations and inquests into the deaths of the patients of the disgraced Breast Surgeon Ian Paterson.
When I moved to Long Marston, I felt that the village lacked a community hub. It has no post office, village shop or other meeting place. My mission is to rectify this. I also take a keen interest in planning policy and hope to develop a consistent policy for how the Council makes submissions to Local Authority planning officers.
As a Councillor, I sit on the planning committee. I also take the lead on the project to remodel the Community Asset Building to make it more widely used. More recently I have been appointed Vice Chairman to the Council.
